Red Clover -Its popularity as a treatment for skin disease even resulted in its placement in the U.S. National Formulary until 1946. Red Clover is still taken internally for chronic skin conditions and externally for acne.

Sarsaparilla Root (Smilax officinalis) - Caribbean Indians and Native Americans have traditionally used Sarsaparilla for skin conditions and urinary complaints. Studies have shown that Sarsaparilla can also be helpful for treating psoriasis and leprosy.

Licorice - has been used for centuries to treat a number of different ailments, such as coughing, arthritis, skin inflammations, canker sores, herpes, and infections. The ingestion of licorice, in the correct quantities, reduces inflammation and redness of the skin.

Turmeric (Curcuma) - is known to have anti-inflammatory effects, so it may be used to treat arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. Topically, turmeric may be used as a powder or mixed with oil and made into a paste to treat cuts, scrapes, and skin conditions such as acne, dermatitis, diaper rash, and psoriasis. Its anti-inflammatory properties may reduce inflammation and its possible anti-infective properties may help to prevent infection of skin injuries.

Atlantic Kelp (powder) - Ascophyllum nodosum - Highly valued as a detoxifier and blood purifier, the anti-inflammatory actions also benefit blemishes of the skin.
